Call for Nominations for the
2026 Tim Dinsdale Memorial Award

This is an official call for nominations for the 2026 Tim Dinsdale Memorial Award, presented by the Society for Scientific Exploration (SSE). The Award is the only formal recognition for significant contributions made to the expansion of human understanding through the study of unexplained phenomena. The award is not restricted to SSE members.

Established in 1992, the Dinsdale Award is named in memory of Tim Dinsdale, who obtained striking evidence of unexplained animals in Loch Ness in 1960. Over the next three decades, Dinsdale's quest to understand what he documented was a model of meticulous research, rigorous methodology, and proper scholarly attitude. Through the Dinsdale Award, the Society for Scientific Exploration identifies and rewards senior scholars who have made substantial contributions to the understanding of physical, biological, and psychological anomalies with the scientific integrity exemplified by Tim Dinsdale.

The Society for Scientific Exploration presents the Dinsdale Award every two years. The previous winners are Helmut Schmidt (1992), William Corliss (1994), Halton Arp (1996), Ian Stevenson (1998), Kilmer McCully (2000), William Roll (2002), Robert Rines (2004), Peter Sturrock (2006), Jerome Clark (2008), Jack Houck (2010), Henry Bauer (2012), Gerald Pollack (2014), Jeff Meldrum (2016), Harold Puthoff (2018), Jessica Utts (2021), and Patrick Huyghe (2023).

Nominations for the 2026 Tim Dinsdale Memorial Award should include a clear description of the nominee’s relevant efforts and their impact, and why you believe he or she deserves the Dinsdale award.

The length of the nomination should be at most the equivalent of two standard pages of text. Supporting material (nominee CV, links to online information, etc.) may be attached, along with supporting letters from others (limited to one page each). However, such additional material is optional.

The nominator must be an SSE member. The award is given only to researchers who are still living.

Nominations will be considered by an ad hoc committee comprising Morris Freedman (chair), Imants Baruss and Garret Moddel.

Please send your nominations and supporting material to us by February 27, 2026 via email to:
